Elevator Mechanic
General
Applicant needs to be motivated and self-directed. Must have strong mechanical skills and be able to independently troubleshoot problems. Good people skills are a must for interacting with customers, general contractors, manufacturers, and other employees.
Skills Required
- Strong mechanical, focusing on installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Physical fitness and the ability to do heavy lifting are very important.
- Strong electrical desired, with the ability to read schematics, install and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Effective at troubleshooting systems independently or in collaboration with others.
- Able to pick up jobs in progress and direct them towards completion.
- Able to direct and train other employees as time goes on.
- Able to work with customers to resolve issues.
- Good reading comprehension, writing ability, and verbal communication.
- General construction skills are also valuable. This includes framing, drywalling, roofing, and other construction-related trades.
Equipment Types
- Residential elevators, stairlifts, dumbwaiters, wheelchair lifts, scooter lifts, ramp systems, and hand controls.
- Other equipment types may be worked on from time to time.
