3/13/08 - Inclinator® Introduces the Most Advanced Home Elevator, The LX

May 2007 - In Japan, over 15,000 home elevators were installed last year. The current growth rate is 36%! And this is during the worst recession in modern Japan’s history! Home elevator sales in the United States have doubled in the last five years and industry forecasts predict even faster growth in the next five.

The popularity of residential elevators is on the rise – no pun intended – in new-home construction, with a recent study by the National Association of Home Builders reporting that upward of 7 percent of home buyers see elevators as a “must have.”

We’ve all heard about aging demographics, but did you know that in 2001, the Census of Canada reported there are 1.8 million baby boomers and 1.475 million seniors living in Ontario alone? And while 83 per cent want to stay in their residence as long as possible, many are concerned about limited mobility within their current home.

Increasingly, builders of low-rise condo developments are offering in-suite elevators as a standard upgrade.

As the ages of baby boomers rise, making them reluctant to buy a house that requires them to navigate stairs, the price of elevators has dropped, making them an affordable amenity - or at least a not-so-outrageous luxury.
